My teaching was born out of my love for yoga and the beautiful and profound personal journey I found myself on. I simply wanted to keep learning and keep sharing the knowledge with as many people as I could. I enjoy teaching people of all ages and abilities as much as I love the challenges that I continue to discover in my own personal practice. It is my hope that through my classes people will also experience the deep joy, serenity and healing that yoga has offered for me.

I trained at the British School of Yoga in 2009 and have been teaching yoga for 10 years. More recently I travelled to India in November 2014 where I spent a month at the Sivananda Ashram Neyyar Dam, Kerala where I studied Traditional Hatha Yoga and qualified as a Sivananda Teacher. I was honoured to be awarded with the title Yoga Siromani which signifies jewel of the crown of yoga. My teaching also draws upon my experience practicing and training in other styles of Yoga; Ashtanga, Jivamukti, Vinyasa, and Kundalini.

In 2015 I studied with ITM – International Thai Massage School, to learn the art of Thai massage.  I offer this beautiful treatment to you with metta, the practice of universal love compassion and kindness.

I live in  the Vale of Glamorgan and host classes, workshops and retreats around the UK and overseas.

About Sivananda Yoga

Yoga at its purest ….
Sivananda yoga is traditional form of Hatha yoga founded by Swami Sivananda and brought to the west by Swami Vishnu-Devananda.
Yoga is not just an exercise routine but an entire lifestyle of physical, mental and spiritual health and well-being. Swami Vishnudevananda encapsulated the main essence of the yogic teachings in these five lifestyle points:

  • 1. Proper Exercise (Asana)
  • 2. Proper Breathing (Pranayama)
  • 3. Proper Relaxation
  • 4. Heathy Eating
  • 5. Positive Thinking & Meditation

What to expect in a Sivananda Yoga Class

A Sivananda Yoga session follows a specific sequence of classical hatha yoga postures, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques.
An Open Class will be traditional, slow paced, and meditative. Your session will encourage proper breathing, flexibility, strength and vitality in the body while calming the mind. Because Yoga is a spiritual system with a physical component, this non-competitive approach helps the practitioner gain much more than just a healthy body.A typical class includes pranayama (breathing exercises), warm-ups including  Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar), 12 basic asanas (postures) and deep relaxation. The focus is on mastering the basic asanas from which variations are then added to further deepen the practice. The asanas follow an exact order that allows for the systematic movement of every major part of the body in a balanced way that enhances prana or life force energy, keeping the mind quiet and without the need to think beyond each individual posture. When practiced regularly, the Sivananda yoga postures, relaxation and breathing can help us to develop on many levels, improving strength, balance, flexibility, concentration, confidence, sensitivity, as well as general health, well-being and peace of mind.

Testimonials

Thanks for a relaxing week which has really helped me recharge my batteries over the extended Easter holidays.

Peter - 26th April to 2nd May

I've had one of the best weeks of my life. A fabulous retreat centre. The attention to detail, the wonderful food, the calm, unhurried manner that we've been looked after with, I've been nourished on all levels.
