Local Beaches & Coast

Tara Casa is in a great location to access a huge choice of Beaches and coastal attractions just a short drive away. The region of Murcia is fairly quiet compared to the built up resorts of the Costa Del Sol and Costa Blanca. The Costa Calida (warm coast) is the approximately 250 km stretch of Mediterranean coastline of the Spanish province of Murcia. This region has a micro-climate which features comparatively hot mean annual temperatures and a relative degree of aridity. Perfect for enjoying all year round. Here´s a few of our favourite places along the coast from Tara Casa.

El Portus

Just 15mins in the car from Tara Casa is the unspoilt cove beach of El Portus. Nestled in between the mountains this small beach has alot to offer. In the winter time during the week it is very quiet and sometimes you have the whole beach to yourself. During the weekends and from Easter onwards there is a small beach bar serving Tapas and drinks where you can enjoy the views.

All year round the activity centre call Portuskayak offers water adventures and Mountain climbing or a combination of the two along the coastline. https://www.portuskayak.com/

Also for the more adventurous there is also a Naturist Campsite with a private beach.

Mazarron, Bolneuvo & la Azioha

The Bay of Mazarron stretches for 35km incorporating many small villages and beach resorts. The history of Mazarron dates back pre Roman times but today it is best known for its summertime pursuits. The town area has over thirty beaches and lies below sea level. The bay hides many treasures, with an underwater garden of important sea fauna, where dolphins, whales and octopi can be found. There are two great underwater treasures dating from VII B.C., known as Mazarron I and Mazarron II. These two Phoenician boats act as a reminder that Mazarron was once an important link with the Phoenicians and these two boats are the only ones of their kind in the world.

On one end of the bay is the small village of La Azioha which has shallow waters and is great for scuba diving and fish restaurants. In the middle is Mazarron and at the other end Bolnuevo with some very unusual rock formations……

Cartagena & Calblanque Nature Reserve

La Cortina Cove is a pretty beach within walking distance of the city of Cartagena. The beach also has a large restaurant on the beach during the warmer months and other facilities.

Along from La Cortina is the Natural Park of Calblanque with more unspoilt beaches and coastline. On the end of the reserve is the fishing port of Cabo de Palos with more beaches, a lively Sunday market, great restaurants and a lighthouse. Perfect

La Manga & Mar Menor

La Manga is a summer resort and its inhabitants define it as a “tongue of land” that links Cabo de Palos with the Salinas de San Pedro del Pinatar, forming more than 20 km which separates the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean Sea.
