Casa Vida is a country house set in the quiet village of La Magdalena in the Murcia countryside. The weather here is said by the ‘World Health’ organisation to be the healthiest climate in the world. In the winter it is like permanent spring. The country house used to be the village school back in the day and would have been the hub of this tiny village. At Casa Vida you can sit among the lemon and orange trees in the Mediterranean garden and listen to the sounds of the wind chimes, the birds and feel the gentle mountain breeze. A place to relax, far away from the daily routine of a busy life, a place to just BE. The village is rural and has no immediate local restaurants or amenities, so you can either hire a car or we can arrange transport with your hosts for visiting local places of interest, or eating out.
The ancient city of Cartagena is only 15 mins away in the car and well worth a visit. It has lots of history dating back to Roman times and beyond and has the remains of a Roman amphitheatre, which is a spectacular site. Set on the harbour there are also shops, bars and restaurants, it a very unspoiled traditional Spanish city. We also have natural and quiet beaches just 10 mins away. Or you can simply relax around our swimming pool in the sunshine.
*please note the village is in a rural location and sometimes there is the sound of dogs barking around the area and other farm sounds* At the retreat we also have rescued dogs, as your host Viv is involved in animal rescue. We have areas for the dogs, they have their own garden and house space away from the guest areas. If guests wish to meet the dogs, they can – otherwise we do not allow the dogs in guest areas. The dogs are well behaved, gentle and have a set routine.
