Location
La Magdalena is a tiny village in the countryside (campo) of the city of Cartagena, in the region of Murcia, Spain. The village is surrounded by almond groves and vegetable crops but has easy access to the whole region.
Murcia International Airport is only 25mins away and Alicante airport 1hr 10mins by car but you can catch a coach from both airports to Cartagena then a short taxi ride to Tara Casa.
Cartagena is an ancient harbour city with lots of historic attractions to explore. Good restaurants, museums and a great shopping centre. Up and down the coast around Cartagena there are lots of unspoilt beaches but also larger ports and villages for tourists. The port of Mazarron is just 25mins away and has numerous unspoilt beaches, 30 minutes to the famous La Manga strip and the Mar Menor where people go to bathe in the salt lakes, with its many healing benefits.
From Tara Casa the nearest beach is El Portus, which is only 15mins by car and again has a relaxed, unspoilt Spanish feel.
The city of Murcia and the range of mountains, the Sierra Espuna, a stunning nature reserve are 45mins by car and make for a great day out exploring. In this region you will also find some of the best golf courses around. Walking and cycling trails are abundant and protected beaches, here the typical Spanish countryside with its sleepy villages is seemingly behind modern times. .
