Tara Casa – A day in the life of
Tara Casa is a superb venue for teachers to bring their Yoga or Pilates students, or for solo guests who are a little apprehensive about travelling alone. Tara Casa is a unique Yoga and Pilates venue/retreat that has many endearing qualities, including our very special rescue dogs; the star dog is Bambi who adores guests but makes herself scarce, as do the others if you are not a dog person.
Tara Casa is a Yoga and Pilates venue, is in a small Murcian village close to the fabulous City port of Cartagena; a weekly stop off for cruise ships sailing the Mediterranean and full of interesting architecture, the history dating back to Roman times, there are fabulous shops and places of interest for sightseeing. For a day out, or evening, there are great tapas bars and restaurants; there is so much to see and it is only 20 minutes from your Yoga/Pilates retreat venue.
As your hosts of Tara Casa we will do everything to assist your travel arrangements, making it easy to plan your Yoga or Pilates holiday and we will arrange for you to be collected from the airport, or bus/train station. San Javier Murcia is the nearest airport just 25 minutes, or Alicante 90 minutes. Our trusted friend and local cab driver Blas is always on hand for transfers, he speaks Spanish and French but will make a great effort to converse in English and is always kind, friendly and helpful to our guests.
On arrival we your hosts, Viv and Dan will welcome you and show you around our retreat home. We always want our guests to feel at home and nothing is too much trouble if you need anything. If you are solo travellers (not part of a group), Viv will find out what you want to achieve from your stay and will prepare a tailored itinerary to suit. You will be offered a chance to have beauty therapies and treatments with Lorraine a qualified therapist and also Carlos who is a holistic massage therapist and acupuncturist. We will provide you with everything you need in your rooms.
If you are a group leader we will have already worked with you to provide a welcoming start for your group and attended to any special needs.
So your day starts to the sound of the birds and the wind chimes, or depending on time of year the cicadas too. Whilst Dan prepares a superb brunch and after a gentle wake up cup of tea and a snack if you prefer before class, you will join your fellow travellers or group in the dedicated Yoga and Pilates studio.
Viv teaches Pilates and Yoga, or a blend of both and will give you an introduction to Pilates and the benefits and will tailor the class to best suit everyone. You will finish with a relaxing meditation and be ready to eat. Your brunch will include cereals, home-made bread, jams, yogurt, eggs, salads and fresh local fruits.
After class your day could include a trip out to Cartagena, a mosaic making session with Dan, a walk, or trip to the local beach, it’s up to you, your time here is yours to do whatever you want.
A lazy afternoon in the sun, with a swim in the full sized pool, a quiet sit in the Mediterranean garden will be followed by an evening meal prepared by Dan. The food is mainly vegetarian but can include fish if required. Dan’s cooking is usually the talk of your retreat week, with tasty filling but healthy dishes. Dan has been asked on numerous occasions to provide a recipe book. As an Artist and creative person he has a flair for the use of herbs and spices and creates tasty but simple dishes such as vegetarian lasagne, chick pea curry, the tastiest nut roast ever and lots of other popular dishes. Wine and beer with dinner is an option that we always cater for, this is a super happy retreat, and everyone that comes here will have a chance to do what makes them feel good.
At the end of the day, you will slip into your comfortable bed feeling happy relaxed and nurtured.
